      Though lists containing details of these items have been circulated for several years, particularly through selected British secondhand bookshops, the rate of success in obtaining some of these items has been disappointingly small. The first is by Pierre Gorman himself, which is taken from the exhibition catalogue, From the Granta to theYarra: Cambridge in Books. Though not on display in this exhibition because of space limitations, the important collection of material dealing with the county of Cambridge must not be forgotten, particularly the items on the Fens which form a unique feature of the north-eastern portion of the county. Dr Gorman with his characteristic generosity later donated to the University his substantial collection of pictorial representations of Cambridge.

      Thus the collection contains over 25 items by J. Graham N. Pierre had a long and distinguished career in England and Australia as educator of the deaf and a tireless advocate against discrimination towards people with disabilities.
